The truth is clear as day. W took the focus off of Afghanistan and Pakistan where al qaeda truly was/is and that decision has led to the current state of al qaeda in that region of the world. They are at pre 9/11 strength and planning to attack this country again seven years after the War on Terror under W's watch began.

By the way, do you feel so much safer thanks to G.W. Bush after reading the true state of al qaeda? I certainly don't.
How many al qaeda attacks have taken place on US soil since 9/11 and the "war on terror"?

Zero. We went after them, in Afghanistan, as we should have and implemented security changes that made this country safer. W deserves credit for doing that in the days after 9/11.

He also deserves the blame for taking the focus off of the true enemy and allowing them to rebuild to 9/11 strength.

Let's see...

Bush the elder did launch a full scale attack of Iraq, remember?

Clinton compromised our military, built the invisible "wall" between the CIA and FBI that caused the missed opportunity to investigate the Muslims going to flight schools in the USA, had a chance to get Bin Laden from Sudan when they offered him to us, responded to terrorist attacks with a few cruise missles, tried to deal with terrorism as criminal acts with the use of courts and lawyers....that was when we were really unsafe. Terror attacks about every two years against us. How man since 9/11?

We are safer and have been much safer with Bush at the helm far more than when a Democrat was in the WH.

I certainly do remember that and I remember many Republicans like Oren Hatch publicly criticizing him for it and suggesting it was only a wag the dog cover up. They weren't interested in trying to target Bin Laden any more than Clinton was.

I guess it all depends on your definitions of "safer". As far as feeling safer, that's your right. I chose to look at the facts of the matter and feel differently.

I have heard that we have some action of attempted attacks and it was taken care of before anything happened, but the MEDIA choose to not make it headline news. Hummm, I wonder why?

That's pretty not funny. Sounds responsible and adaptive to me.

Or the other alternative is a candidate in McCain who would like to distance himself so much from the existing Republican President ... that he is willing to keep a laissez-faire .. turn the other way ... approach when everyone and their mother knows some gov't intervention and help is needed in this present crisis that has spun out of control ... while blasting the Republican President who is acting on it ....

I understand this is difficult for a candidate that owns 7 homes and whose wife can wear outfits in the hundreds of thousands of dollars .... but

IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID. NOT YOUR CAMPAIGN.
wow, I see there is at least one lib on this forum.

A new Fox News poll shows Sen. Barack Obama with a comfortable lead over Sen. John McCain among likely voters, 45% to 39%.

These polls change from day to day. Honorable McCain has decided to put his country first again and suspended his campaign to go back to Congress.
