LOL! A friend of mine called today and she was telling me her husband said, "Those people are like watching a circus."
Serious, they have a huge turnover at this station.

Re: Hike away from Ike?
The 4 o'clock update this morning said the hurricane was at a catagory 3. By this afternoon, we should be feeling the outer bands and the storm will hit around 2AM Saturday morning.

Keeping in mind that a high end Category 2 and a low end Category 3 are nearly identical.
We are on the left side of this storm and will not get the full impact.
Praying for those situated on the right side!

Re: Hike away from Ike?
The strength of the storm has fluctuated quite a bit in the last 24 hours. I woke up early this morning to check out the news and they have shown some flooding already in Jamaica Beach and other beach front communities.
I cooked a nice roast overnight, because I was afraid that much of my stuff in the freezer would go bad in a sustained power outage.
I am going to cook some ribs this afternoon to share with my neighbor.

Re: Hike away from Ike?
The storm has weaken somewhat and may only stay a Cat 2. IF it doesn't soon move more east as projected it will hit more west of Galveston.
Still don't know what we will do. We are packing up just in case we decide to leave.

Please don't wait too late to evacuate. How far are you from the coast?
The biggest danger in this storm will be the storm surge. You can't run from a 20 foot wall of water!
