Re: What Republicans Have done to stop Abortion

Just some thoughts!

If everyone in our nation was just like me, what kind of a nation would
our nation be! First I must ask myself, "What have I done or doing to
change the things that are lacking?" It's always easy to blame others".

I will soon see my 69th birthday, the Lord willing, and I have seen many
people live for God and trust Him for everything. You don't always get an
immediate answer. There is that patient waiting on the Lord. He does the
part that we cannot do. We must trust HIM with all our hearts.

It appears that Sarah Palin is being tested. Tried! Moses told those
Israelites in rehearsing their wilderness journey, why God had put them
through those difficult 40 YEARS. He said it was to HUMBLE them, PROVE them,
TO SEE WHAT was in their hearts, and WHETHER THEY WOULD OBEY HIS
COMMANDMENTS or not. Deut.8:2-4

Until we have been through the "wilderness" process, we really are not quali-
fied to tell others how to travel there. It might be better to listen and learn to
those who have been there, so that we might learn what to do when it comes
our time to walk that road. And we all get our chance.

Don't worry, IF we ever live for God, we will get our chance. For HE will HUMBLE us,
PROVE us, SEE WHAT"S IN OUR HEARTS, AND find out WHETHER WE WILL OBEY HIS
COMMANDMENTS OR NOT! And what is in our hearts will be manifest by our
words, written or spoken.
Moses didn't get to enter the Promised Land because his temper got the
best of him and he in anger smote the Rock instead of speaking to it as he
had been instructed to do.

Our parents loved us and corrected when we were disobedient. We learned
obedience by the things we suffered. Parents train up young children, but
God disciplines adult disobedience!

When we've done all we can, we had better JUST STAND therefore, having
on the whole armour of God. When Moses and the children of Israel had
gone as far as they could, they just waited. What else could they do. God
had to take over and finish what no man could do. As long as we are willing
to do what we can, then God will take care of that part only He can do.

This is not written for offence, but just for the information I feel to share.

Blessings,

Falla39

Re: What Republicans Have done to stop Abortion

Which country has the world's lowest abortion rate per 1000 pregnancies? Is it's social policy prolife or prochoice?

I sympathize with your frustration, but things just aren't that simple.

There are pro-choice people in the Republican party, too.

Republicans have fought harder against abortion than any other party or major political group.

What exactly do you see from the Republicans on this issue that you define as "pandering"?

I don't support abortion. I just believe that the reality is that fighting to ban abortion is a waste of time, effort, and money. We need sound policies that can be passed TODAY that will reduce the abortion rate. Many of these policies have worked in other nations to bring down the abortion rates...but sadly conservatives only want abortion banned...they don't care about solid social policies that actually reduce the number of abortions.

Re: What Republicans Have done to stop Abortion

The "Pro-Life" myth is a Republican lie designed to use your religious convictions against Democrats. The Republicans know that abortion will never be banned in this country and so they confidently use this card every election cycle. As a matter of fact, I've talked with Republicans who pray that abortion isn't banned because they'd loose a very successful wedge issue to rally, and I quote what was said to me back when I was a Republican, "fundamentalist wackos."

But....the marriage between the Republican Party and right wing Christian conservatives continues.

It's a game that I'm sick and tired of playing. If a liberal country like Belgium (a liberal prochoice country) can have the world's lowest abortion rate (lower than that of any "Prolife" nation) certainly we can get on with the issue and reduce the abortion rate regardless of abortion's legality in the United States. But there's one group in the way of doing that....conservatives. Ironic actually.

I seriously doubt that God agrees with you on this.

Fighting to ban the killing of unborn children is a worthy and righteous cause. It is not a waste of time, effort, or money.

"Reduce the abortion rate", huh?
(Excuse me while I barf....)

...ok, I'm back.

"Pro-choice" folks often talk about how much they want to reduce the rate of abortions. What does that mean in plain English? Reducing the rate of abortions = reducing the killing of unborns to a more "reasonable" and "acceptable" level. Maybe some folks here think that's' a noble goal. Forgive me for being totally unimpressed .

There are about 1.3 million abortions in the US per year. Since they don't want to ban abortions...how much do abortions supporters want to reduce the number by? 10%? 30%, or just how much?

I guess if they instituted some social programs and policies and reduced the number to "only" 500,000 per year, that would be considered a huge success! Only half a million babies per year?! Wow!

Again... I'm unimpressed.

Re: What Republicans Have done to stop Abortion

TFR did you read the earlier posts I made about my frustration with the lack of significant progress in 35 years (while the banning was actually feasible). I don't have the energy to type it all up again. Let me just say that with so many people being elected primarily on the strength of their pro-life stance, I would expect things to be drastically different now....not 40 million babies murdered.
