Very true.

A Pastor can be the most loved or most hated person of the assembly.
Many times without valid justification.

Keith

I do not know what the laws are like in CA. Nevertheless, Praxeas is right. You can have him arrested for Terroristic Threatening. I know here in AR we have specific laws that are written for harrassment over the phone and/or internet. The difficult part is proving it. All of my clients (I am probation officer) who are guilty of these charges were brought to justice by recordings. I would suggest that you buy a mini voice recorder and keep it with just in case he calls again.

Also, since a church is considered private property, if you tell him not to come there then he could be charged with trespassing. The key is without a shadow of a doubt you must tell him not to come on your property. I would send him an offical letter by certified mail -- telling him that because of his threats of violence he is no longer welcome.

Lord bless -- I will pray for your situation.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Re: Please pray!!!

I think adding terrorist to someone's name who isn't a genuine bona fide one is wrong.
In Canada as I am sure in the States, it is hard to defend against a charge like that & if you are innocent, it will stain your record forever.
It will wreck your credit, and your life.

Of course we are praying, but here are the steps we are taking

Notifying all local law enforcement
Changing Locks on the Church (they had keys)
Doing a Restraining Order
Hiring a Security Guard for Sunday Services
Notified the Sheriff who lives across from me on my street
Instituting a partner policy, no leader is to be alone at the church, we operate two by two now on
Pulled out my Glock 17, now loaded and is in an safe yet, accessable place

Thanks to all for the wisdom and spirit behind your posts, this is something they don't teach in Seminary.

I understand what you are saying. Nevertheless, what really determines the harhness of the judgement is the class of felony that it is. This one can many times be bargained down to a misdemenear.

Praying Keith!
How does someone go from being a Spirit-filled, God-serving saint... to being a rogue threatening to kick somebody's [bad word]?

Amazing.

It's scary how far we can fall, if we allow it to happen.

Dear Lord, Brother

What in the world did you do to cause a saint to react this way.

And does your action sound like Paul's instructions.

1 Cor 6:1
6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
KJV
