It costs more than a billion (thats right Billion with a B) dollars to put one oil derrick in the ocean. oil companies spend billions upon billions developing new technologies and finding new sources.
and all the time it is getting harder and harder to find the new sources.
plus in the emerging economy, crude oil is slowly being replaced with other sources of fuel. Oil companies have to work on R&D to come up with the next generation of fuel to insure they still exist in the coming decades.
in America 200 million people are invested in these Oil companies for their retirement yet so many want to cut their own necks by robbing the oil companies! its insane!
