Re: Toyota FJ Cruiser????

Crude Prices are 47% of the cost Provincial and Federal taxes are 35%.

1 in 2 Canadians in a recent poll have said that they want the taxes lowered & "Record Profits" appropriately taxed!

well, 1 in two Canadians are half right! that is a start at the very least...

those record profits, if you tax them "appropreately" that will just lead to the oil companies doing what every single company does. they will pass the tax on to the tax payer in the form of higher prices!

Ron, you got any 401K (or the Canadian equivilent) invested in those oil companies?

It's kinda funny that the government makes more on a gallon of gas than the oil companies and yet the government has not a nickel invested and they have the audacity to complain about the oil companies profits.

You are forgetting that in Canada we are an "Oil Exporter" nation.
1 Million excess barrels a day go to the USA.
In other "Oil Exporting" nations the gas price per gallon is a lot lower!

It costs more than a billion (thats right Billion with a B) dollars to put one oil derrick in the ocean. oil companies spend billions upon billions developing new technologies and finding new sources.

and all the time it is getting harder and harder to find the new sources.

plus in the emerging economy, crude oil is slowly being replaced with other sources of fuel. Oil companies have to work on R&D to come up with the next generation of fuel to insure they still exist in the coming decades.

in America 200 million people are invested in these Oil companies for their retirement yet so many want to cut their own necks by robbing the oil companies! its insane!

Again, we go back to your elected officials. You guys have European type government and a european type expectation of your government.

Now that isnt a bad thing if you want it. That is your perogative.

There are still a few of us Americans who think that kind of governemnt is best served over "accross the pond". We dont want it here. We want to remain the last bastion of the Rugged Individualist!
