My job dictates that I can't be at church very often, I'm lucky to get to 2 services in a month, more commonly I can only make 1 service a month. Am I forsaking the assembling? I think not. Do folks who miss Church every so often because they take some fun time forsaking the assembling? Again, I think not. I feel that if a person is at least getting together with other Christians on a regular basis (even if it is just a dinner every couple of weeks) and discusses the works and wonders of God, I don't see how that person could be forsaking the assembling because they are in this case even if they are not actually in church. There is a wide range of reasons that some Christian either can't or don't go to church very often, but that doesn't mean that they are forsaking the assembling...although that is often the case with some people.

Good to know that God works and moves on our carnal fleshly worldly time.

This is what it is about, folks, spending time with the ole family outside of the church service, feeding our appetites!

I don't need to go to church twice on Sunday and once or twice during the week to do what the writer of Hebrews was encouraging.

This gets us right back to the whole mess concerning what is more important, the rule or the principle behind the rule. Some see "going to church" as THE rule while others, such as yourself, see the much bigger picture. In Gods eyes, family game night is very likely as, or more, important than family pew time in church. Time with like-minded friends is also important and falls under the above scriptures.
But it is so sad that many have taken the meaning to say a "cut and dried church service at such and such and such and such a time. The MORE services the better. The LESS services means you are officially backslid relative to MY spirituality." Etc.

If a church has one service on Sunday... and they show... they are not forsaking the assembling.
Many people act as though there is a scripture for meeting twice on Sundays. Of course the one thing more powerful than scripture itself is... tradition.

I wonder why?
I only know because I have driven by them on my way home, etc. on Sunday nights and their doors are darkened.
This includes the controversial Brother Gordon's Lovingway "Jews killed Jesus" United Pentecostal Church...
I wonder if cancelling church on Sunday night is a rally-cry-sort of...thing, or is it a white flag?

The large UPC church here is town has Sunday night service.
The church runs 1000 and on sunday night maybe 250.
The independant church I attend has Sunday night only a few times a year during special services.
Sunday night is a way of the past...
To me it used to be the best service of the week.

Re: Sunday Night Church
I remember a few years ago that Sunday night was the service to be at. Sunday morning was just bible teaching and a few songs. We used to only invite folks to Sunday night service. I am not sure what changed but folks just didn't show up as much and the emphasis on Sunday night changed.

I think we are in a time where people don't see bible teaching as "just bible teaching".
I think people love the word and love to hear it taught.
I think the whole mindset that would generate a phrase such as "just bible teaching" is waning.
3 cheers for that....

It may be a way of the past for some folks.....but for lots of others, it'll always be a way of the present and future!
