Don't be afraid to elaborate and tell it as a story. It is always fascinating to know what brought folks to the waters of baptism and of course to a decision to live for Christ and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Sam, if I run across that pic I will post it but I don't have a clue where it is. Just picture a skinny little kid right after he was dunked with his hands held up high worshipping God. LOL!!! I remember what the picture looks like in my mind.
It is kind of strange but I don't remember first hand my baptism at age 8 but I clearly remember the time in the altar a few months later when I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at age 9.

I remember attending Pentecostal services and knowing that God was dealing with me. At the altar call- I would bow my head and "talk to my shoes"! The conversations with my shoes were about the commitment I knew it would take to walk in this way.
I was living in another town going to college. It was May and during final exams and God was really dealing with me. I had a car that week, because I would be moving home for the summer after finals. Well- conviction really got a hold of me and I thought this is Wednesday night I really need to go to church. I got in the car and drove around for about 2 hours trying to find the church in this little town. I knew about where it was. When I finally found it, it was dark and locked up.. It was not that late - so I could not figure out why no one was there. When I got back to my dorm- I discovered it was not Wednesday night- at all but Tuesday night. That Friday night I went to the altar for the first time and was baptised.

You're right. Thanks for the info. I thought the name didn't sound just right. It wasn't called Christ's Temple at the time, Carl Moran was the pastor.

Does baptism have to be done by a pastor in order to be "legitimate"? I'm just curious what you all think about that.

Careful! Margies3, you might start something up again. Remember that thread about modes of baptism sometime ago? FITBL

Re: What Is Your Baptism Story?
I was baptised in the basement of A.L. Colegrove's church in Grand Rapid, MI, in the winter (back before they heated the water) when I was almost 4 yrs old. My mother has told me over the years that I had been crying and asking her if I could be baptised so I could have my sins washed away. She felt that I was too young but my grandmother told her how my dad's only brother had done the same thing and she wouldn't let him for the same reason. He ended dying in a house fire without being baptised.

Where were you baptized (both geographically and baptistry, creek, etc)?
How old were you?
I was baptized in Jesus name when I was 8 years old in Alaska in the church baptistry. I was baptized by Pastor Shoemaker and a few months later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues at the age of 9.
Somewhere I have a picture of my baptism but I have no clue where it is. Hopefully I will find it.
By he way since I am 48 years old that means this year was my 40th baptismal anniversary!!!!!!!!!!

When my mom was in the hospital giving birth to my younger brother, my dad took me to the Catholic church without my Oneness PK, mom knowing and had me sprinkled with the waters of baptism and Hallelujah!
Oh...this isn't the one? sorry.

Re: What Is Your Baptism Story?
I was baptized when I was six or seven at the United Pentecostal Church of Greenville, Mississippi by Pastor Wayne Ellard. This was around 1986 or 1987. I couldn't figure out how to speak in tongues like all the other kids so I knew I was doomed to hell. At least I could cover two of the bases (repentance and baptism) and just maybe God wouldn't put me in Hell if the rapture took place. I wasn't banking on this though. I knew that baptism alone wouldn't save me. I had to go through the whole of Acts 2:38 to be saved.
So I kept trying to get the Holy Ghost and at Mississippi District youth camp I think I got the Holy Ghost. If I didn't speak in tongues I was close enough that I figured I had it and so I told everyone I got it. I had probably received the Holy Ghost before this time but didn’t' realize it.
I think Lloyd Squires was the speaker at this camp.
