We were recently "scolded" by an evangalist who noticed that during our praise and worship service , our youth were usually the first ones to their feet praising God...
That is what I am saying, and we have a lot of our youth whose parents barely come to church and yet they manage to be faithful and be diligent with their giving, (I do the books, so I know) and just are all around good kids and great saints.
Also, we have parents who are as faithful as all get-out, good people, yet, their children backslide and lead horrible lifestyles. It ultimately is an individual decision in each of our lives.
I grew up a preachers kid and trust me, a LOT of my preacher kid friends were the worst ones when it came to getting into trouble, (not me of course ) I can gua-ran-tee you that in this district, very few if any of their parents had TVs!!!
You were stating that they will do whatever their parents do to excess. My experience is that this isn't even most of the time true.
If you think that teenagers make stupid decisions based on what their parents have or have not done, you are sadly mistaken. Most all teenagers make stupid decisions at some point or the other, and it rarely has anything to do with how they were raised. It has to do with them being teenagers.
Yes, we influence our children, are incredibly important in developing their character, but to imply that because someone watches the evening news on TV, that ultimately their child will watch pornography on TV, is just a bad assumption. IMO
My experience is that most of the time these parents are the ones crying at the school, at the police department, at the church, that, "My kids would NEVER do anything like that! I had no clue!!"
Of course, "some" and "most" does not mean all. There are rare gems out there that really don't take things to extremes.
