Re: Please Pray for Kenya!!

Fighting in Kenya has escalated again today. A leader of the opposition party was killed today, which has incited more riots and killings all over the nation. Things seemed to have settled down a bit, but now they are talking about anarchy/civil war. Our pastors are all still safe, as far as we know, but some of them have lost their homes. Our driver (who is Kikuyu) has been in hiding. I have sent money to all of them, but money does little when there is no food to buy. Please continue to pray!!!

Exactly. What do they do? Hide out until all is semi-calm again? What about their families? Are they all in a safe place?

Chris (lead pastor) drove into Uganda and bought food a few weeks ago and distributed it to our other pastors, as he could. Now he probably cannot get out safely again, since his tribe is included in the new round of fighting. One of our pastor's familiy was taking sanctuary at a police station, but Chris went and got them and hid them somewhere. Two others have lost their homes; I'm not sure where they are, but Chris is in contact with them all. Weirdly the only pastors in Kenya we have that are safe are the ones up in the Sudan desert region, which is usually the worst place. But they are far removed from this fighting, since they are all Samburu or Turkana, and their tribes are not involved.

Remember Ben, the first guy we had over there? He has actually brought his family to Arkansas for the duration of the trouble.

I do remember Ben. Why Arkansas? Do they know people there?

Yeah, he has some big $$$ connections in Arkansas. That was part of the problem when he was with us; he wasn't totally honest about all that. But I'm glad that they were able to get Mary & the children out of the country anyway.
