Love just about everything...from country/southern gospel to black gospel...seriously...including the new praise and worship.
If you knew me, you would know music is my life, so I love just about everything....EXCEPT opera...gross...period...
And I agree AQP about "When I Think About the Lord"...I did hear this song at Eddie and Sherri's church in January and they played fast...it was definitely different, but very neat...
As for not liking repetitive music Miss B....how do you handle black gospel girl???

People who like everything, I always look for the exception
Come on... Opera is pure art form! You never enjoyed The Three Tenors? Pavoratti? His performances would bring tears to my eyes.
Good point to MB about black gospel and not liking repetition lol Talk about 5 minute vamps!
"When I Think About the Lord" is a great song. The fact that most congregations have sung it before is a testimony to that.

Okay, let's get technical Jeffrey I do like the Three Tenors and yes, their voices are/were INCREDIBLE....BUT those opera shows that are full of words I don't understand and a plot that is just too deep to follow...nope, not for me
And yes, those 5 minute vamps are crazy sometimes...although, I was the lead alto for a black gospel choir for many years...I got first hand experience with those 5 minute vamps!! LOL

I've come to (repeated 25x)
praise him (repeated 25x)
praise (repeated 25x)
A bridge with some repeats doesn't bother me too much, as long as it isn't too long.
I place MOST choir music in the "fun" category--fun to sing, fun to sway with, fun to play...not necessarily what I want playing all day long on Pandora. Some of the newer black gospel is more jazz/blues style, and I like SOME of it. (particularly Tonex & that other guy...can't think of him at the moment.) I dislike those that go in the hip-hop direction.
I have extremely eclectic tastes, too, and I go through phases. Right now I'm in an Eric Clapton phase, and I may hang out here awhile.
|
Well, I like the phase you are going thru right now I like Eric Clapton...a great guitarist! I also like Michael Buble right now....
And yes, those songs of less than 5 words that last for 5 minutes are enough to make me scream! And yes, Tonex is good...I like Smokie Norful too, but sometimes his stuff can go on and on and on and on and on....lol

Gotcha. Then I'm pretty similar to you. I like it all. Gaithers & Isaacs, Old School Petra, PCD, Fred Hammond, John P Kee (see above), Israel, Phil Whickham, etc... then strictly mainstream music artists is another ball of wax for me. Love it all.

Tonex definitely isn't "newer" but his and Deitrick Haddon's style is sooooooo 2000's
I agree with Clapton. If we're going 80's like that, in that flavor, add Rod Stewart, Sting and Brian Adams for good measure
Smokie Norful, talented vocalists, his movements give me a headache though. After a couple of his songs, I've starved to hear a solid, straight note! haha
