You are not mistaken. Boots Campbell's son was my pastor for several years. He's dead now.

I am not sure, about Maxine Davis. I will ask my father he grew up in Weedpatch and was a pillar in the church there. My earliest memories was of my father and mother hosting girls at our house during the annual thanksgiving week convention.

Kenny Blackwood in now the pastor of the church, as the church has moved to Southeast Bakersfield.

small world...the Dawson´s were some of my best friends...Sister Rita preached the first ladies conference we ever conducted in Brazil...
My brother in law (now deceased) used to pastor the Lamont church...sadly they did not fellowship...
My son preached For Brother Blackwood just a couple months ago...

When Sister Dawson passed away we lost a great woman that will always be remembered by our family.

I recall hearing him preach at a campmeeting probably back in the mid 90s and he would come to the church I attended and preach every now and then, I think - unless I am confusing him with another person with the last name of Campbell.

He was almost always smiling - just like Sis. Rita Dawson. I remember him having gout in his feet and having to be in a wheelchair for a while. I hope I am not confusing him with someone else. It's been a while ago.

We have that album with the Weedpatch choir members on the front - with the song "When Time and Eternity Meet" ...I think Sis. Dawson wrote that, but that might not be correct either. Time kind of blurs the memory.

Your memory isn't playing tricks on you. He did suffer from gout.

I have some cassette tapes of his preaching. When spring cleaning times come in a few days, I hope to categorize my preaching tapes by ministers' names and put his tapes on a list of "To Listen"....There was one sermon of his that I listened to several times but right now the title escapes my memory. I have the notes of when Sis. Dawson preached back in the 70s. I know I have them somewhere, too.

God has given me great blessing in having heard many great preachers throughout the years.
