Cancer has claimed my wife's sister, and is now claiming my wife's other sister, not to mention grandparents on both sides. I thought this book might give perspective and insight.

Cancer is the body destruction by all our civilization poisons, external and internals.
They need to quit feeding the body junk food, and start immediately eating vegetables, brown rice, and whole multigrain breads. They also need to start taking multi-vitamins immediately.

They need to also change their environment to a healthier one.
get rid of microwaves and all excessive electrical equipment.

There are many steps that can be taken to put the body externally and internally on the road to recovery.

I just finished two books:

1.) RECHURCH: Healing Your Way Back To The People Of God by Steven Mansfield

2.) On Solitude by Michel de Montaigne

The first is a pretty standard treatment of what to do when you've been hurt and offended by people in the church, and need to get up out of the dumps about it and rejoin the Body of Christ. Nothing inherently wrong about any of it, but it came across more like typical platitudes than actual revelation and insight.

The second is from the Penguin Books "Great Ideas" series, and is a collection of essays written by the author, translated into English. Nothing particularly captivating about any of them, although a key point made in the titular essay is that, you can't go off looking for solitude, if the thing you are running from is yourself. I liked that little nugget.

Now, I'm reading a translation of Leo Tolstoy's Confession. I've been on a book buying splurge as of late. At this rate, I'm going to need another bookshelf, the way they are piling up!

I'm still reading Montefiore's Jerusalem but it's kind of dragging right now. I'm somewhere around the Crusades. Not sure if I will push through or just move on and come back to it, yet.

Im reading Frank Peretti's The Visitation

It's a great book about false prophets, spiritual warfare, and how a Pentecostal preacher overcomes

A weeping crucifix heals a crippled man. Worshipers see a vision of Christ in the clouds. Is God speaking to his people in the last days? When a small farming town is turned upside down by supernatural occurrences, it's up to a burned-out pastor to determine whether these miracles are from heaven---or straight from hell.

We have that book. I read it about four years ago, I guess it was. I liked it very much. I especially liked the way Peretti showed the difference between the old veteran preacher who walked in reality and the fresh-faced preacher who was going to "win this city for Christ".

I found that portion to be very astute in its observations.

Have you read other books by Peretti? I've read a few. This Present Darkness, Monster, and one about a magician. I forget the title.

His portrayal of the impersonal mega church factory, and the hyper spiritual who were not grounded in the word and were deceived, and others, vs the smaller intimate churches who were grounded in the word and community was a great reminder of what is important.
