Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...
For the record....
The alleged 16 year old victim whom got the whole process started turns out to be a hoax. The phone number could have been traced back to Colorado BEFORE they went into community with guns blazing.
"Documents related to Swinton's arrest had been sealed by a judge at the request of Texas authorities. The arrest warrant affidavit was released Wednesday after The Associated Press filed a motion to unseal the records Monday."
Why do you suppose the Texas authorities and judge want to keep the matter quiet? 432 children later..... Hmm....

I read this story. They are still spinning this for media consumption. "Texas spokesman could not verifiy if this was indeed the phone call that prompted the investigation."

Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...
There were 19,754 births to Texas teens 17 and under in 2001. This number doesn't take into account teenage abortions.
According to the Dallas News; as of 2007, Texas leads the nation in teenage pregnancies and 1 of 4 pregnant teenagers gives birth to at least one more child while still a teenager.
Nationwide; 25% of teenagers have STDs and that number rises to more than 40% of teenagers who admit to sexual activity.

The CPS workers initially were interviewing young girls for up to 10 hours throughout the night.
According to members of the group; they were not accepting social security cards, birth certificates, and drivers licenses as proof of age.

Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...
Finally, I have discussed this case at the court house and was surprised to find out just how much the women's dress, hair and lack of makeup is affecting perception of the case. A woman attorney told me "The real crime is the way those women dress." A female clerk expressed the same sentiment.
It seems that people relate to people who are more like them than not. Unfortunately many people can't relate to these women as real mothers... and so its easier not to feel their pain or recognize that Govt is trampling parental rights.
I think they would be well-served to get themselves an assertive female spokesperson who doesn't look like them.

Well there's a guy around here that makes fake documents for illegals from Mexico, so no surprise on the items you mentioned. I'm sure there were people in Utah and Arizona that did the same. So they are probably trying to authenicate things. Do you know if most of the kids were born in hospitals or at the compounds? Apparently it's not that hard to make good fake id's anymore with technology.
