Sis. I had a sister of mine grow quite dissallusioned with all the insignificant stuff, (her words) when she really had an inward struggle with family/childhood issues that sort of meshed with the church things.

God built the church so simularly to the family that sometimes we hurt form normal, daily personality exersions. They eventually sort of "pop our bubble" of visions of security and careing by the empty suits whose message doesn't reach out any more.

The real reason you've been elected to this regal place of sufferring is to be able to change the world you live in, not wave the white flag of truce.

Those feelings of incompleteness will eventually reveal their foundations, and your view of the empty suits will magically turn to wamth and reminissant goodness.

The place you stand is heartbreaking to me. In my own family all my brothers and sister recieved the Holy Ghost and none of them stayed, never being able to differentiate the purpose of doctrine over their own pain and need. But if the wounds are deep then only time will let them be discovered.

I really am touched by your simple plea for understanding and positive self-examination. It speaks of maturity to me. But as I pray for you, I want you to know. Your posterity and successes depend on the fact you will overcome the world, as your savior did. And the courage I hear within will someday ( I hope Soon ) surface to the banced mind of the Godly Woman God made you to be.

God bless...

II Corinthians 6:17-18
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty

I'm sorry, but the Bible does not agree with you on this, as the following verses will show that, indeed God does put conditions upon His grace:

I Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

James 4:6
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Psalm 84:11
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Proverbs 3:34
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Romans 1:1-5
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

And conditions upon His mercy:

Exodus 20:5-6
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments

Deuteronomy 7:9,12
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers

I Kings 3:6
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

II Chronicles 6:14
And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:

Nehemiah 1:5
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Psalm 32:10
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about

Psalm 103:8,11,17
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Isaiah 9:17
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Daniel 9:4
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Jonah 2:8
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Luke 1:50
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

James 2:13
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

Jude 20, 21
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Salvation is a free gift. Yes was are to obstain from sin, but that is because sin separates us from Him. Dress code does not.

Also what you so greatly provided about grace shows that God will give grace to many different people. The agrument at hand is if God gives grace to those that do not follow a dress code. He gives grace to the Humble, which says nothing about dress standards.

You are trying to draw a line that says those that do not follow a dress standard can not love God, be humble, show mercy, we are not "lowly", and can not walk uprightly. These are alll very very wrong.

You put the verse in II Corinthians 6:17-18 that tells to not touch any unclean thing and separate ourselves from "them." Separate yourself to God not stick out like a sore thumb. It is childish to think that God has become some type of task master and says, "you gotta look a certain way, dress, etc." If God wanted for all of us to be cookie cutter pentecostal christians then why did he makes us so different?

The perfect church does not exist, there is no perfect pastor, there are no perfect people. If there were such a thing as a perfect church, it would become imperfect the minute one of us set foot in the door.

Do we go to church for people or do we go to church for God?

Am I saying you have to go to a UPC church? Most certainly NOT! Am I saying its OK for you to stay home and not go to church at all? Most certainly NOT! Go for GOD and yourself, if for no other reason, but go nonetheless.

Every major denomination believes that church attendance or the assembling of ourselves together (even if its a small group in a home) is biblically necessary. So why do some "christians" blow it off as if its not necessary?

I don't plaster my story on the internet but HeavenlyOne could tell you that I personally know more about "spiritually abusive" churches and pastors than the average bear. I continue on, I go to church, because of GOD...not people. People are going to be people no matter where you go.

Do I think you will bust hell wide open if you don't go to church? Not necessarily, but then again, I won't say that you'll make it to heaven either. Thats for God to judge, not I.

I gotta go....take care Mich and it was great to meet you!

But there are better churches out there and better areas...I guess it just depends on how bad you want it.
Sigh.....

I'm really not looking for a "perfect" church. But I am looking for a group of believers who share the same burden and vision as I do. I have no desire to change one wrong situation for another.

Good luck with that. Burdens and visions are like noses, they vary from person to person, some are inherited, some are similar but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, no two are exactly the same.

I see. She does an excellent job of it. I thought it was her, from her younger days. Anyway, yes, Tammy Faye is on her deathbed. Someone started a thread about it a few weeks backs. Apparently, she's already said her good byes on her website and everything.
