True Bible Christianity is not oppressive to women.
After all without Mary and her part in the virgin birth could redemption have been a reality ?
Bro. Scott- Judaism did not start out blaming the woman for evil. That came with captivity and later with the Helenization that encroached upon the Jews.

Consider that the Ten Commandments told children to honor BOTH their father and mother...

Consider that wisdom was spoken of as a "she" in Proverbs.

Note that finding a wife was then a good thing; compared to rubies.

It wasn't mine.

There I said it.

Take me to the cleaners, steam press my hide and hang me out to cure like beef jerky.
Dora.......

You have to look at the whole picture. People believe what they believe and they have a right to do that. There was a time when I believed and thought like they do so I totally understand. Am I going to point the finger at them and put them on my blacklist because of the convictions and beliefs they hold? No! I love many of these people and I respect them too.

I was home this summer and attended every service of the UPC campmeeting. Nobody escorted me to the altar. In fact, I have never received so many hugs and so much affirmation perhaps ever. It totally blew me away -- the kindness and love that was expressed to me.

I did have a district leader offer to escort me to my seat and parade me down the aisle and across the front of the church to do so. He said he'd be "proud" to take my arm and do that. LOL! Funny!

These attitudes (that you described) do not exist everywhere and sometimes our attitudes determine and affect the attitudes of others.

I find that point of view to be the arrogant one.

It is also irritating that my husband is viewed as abusive, simply because he believes that he has an authoritative role in our home, a role which is supported by scripture.

Someone causing me offense is NOT the same as persecution. If it were, there are a few women here who are guilty of persecuting me.
Someone disagreeing with my views or being unsupportive of my views and lifestyle is NOT persecution. If it were, many here would be guilty of persecution.

Another noteworthy post by the inimitable Miss B.

The main attack I saw was the one launched against the church.

Same thing happened to me at General Conference in 2005. OHHHH! They were sooo happy and excited to see me. But I don't think many of them will be inviting me to come sing on their platforms anytime soon. Nope! Don't think so.

Well, that's okay isn't it? You wouldn't expect it, would you?
