If your ancestors were white supremacists or slave-owners who believed that black people were less than human, then yes, your ancestors would be grouped in the same lump of hateful and evil men and women like Hitler.

Why would you want to hold on to anything connected to such a flawed and hateful group of people or anything that would commemorate their hate?

Why was there ever statues of men who engaged in treason and murder of their fellow human beings?

I'll tell you why, because the attitude if white supremacy didn't die at the end of the Civil War. We have over 100 years of history after the Civil War to back that assertion up.
