Re: US Embassies in Egypt, Libya Breached, BO Sile

I said I would not wade into the political discussions here anymore because face it, what's the point . But I have to say that all of the rhetoric and political games are just as frustrating to me as they always have been.
I have read that the statements that were attributed to the President as his reaction to the attacks (the statement about respecting religion that was seen as apologetic) was actually a release made by the embassy (not him) BEFORE the attack. If that is so, it is terribly disingenuous and I hope everybody who attributed that to him would be big enough to recognize that.
Once again, I am just here to lend a bit of balance and objectivity. Carry on...

Here are some pictures from a "demonstration" in the streets of Libya denouncing the killings and attack. I thought it was interesting as well.

...and while I'm here, I guess I should leave this as well...

"Contrary to reports in the press, there was never a request for Prime Minister Netanyahu to meet with President Obama in Washington, nor was a request for a meeting ever denied," the White House said Tuesday night in its statement, which made reference to "our close cooperation on Iran and other security issues."

Stew, the apology came from the US Embassy in Cairo before the attacks, sure. But the Embassy represents the office of the president. It's hard to believe they would make a statement without running it passed the Oval Office. Then after the attacks Hillary stepped forward with a statement condemning the attacks but still inserting the language about the stupid movie. The truth is these folks are squeamish about being decisive in these situations. They worry how the Muslim world will perceive us. He apologized in Cairo in 2009. What did all the pandering get us? More of the same.

By the way...good to see you back here

The White House says there was never a request...the Israelis say there was. It's a matter of who you believe.

My point is that it is highly disingenuous to present that as a response from the president after the attacks. I think anyone should be able to recognize that as very misleading and political.

...and I'm not sure how good it is to be back...

I totally agree and, yes, it was political. Away from this forum, there were many people who recognized it for what it was.

There was a time when Romney was only 10 pts behind Obama at InTrade. Now he is behind 20 pts. People are tired of the political posturing and especially won't support it coming from the Conservatives. Oh, sorry, he is "severely" Conservative.

I am finding I should have agreed with you during the 2008 elections.

Here you go on your informed information.

Romney Sticks Silver Foot in His Mouth Again

The "first response" Romney was referring to was an early Tuesday statement issued by the Obama administration in response to the outrage caused by the release of an amateur American film which offensively depicted the Muslim Prophet Muhammad:
