I never actually had a system that used the 8 inch floppies but I did see them. My first computer used good old cassette tapes to store data on them.

The most boring time of my life, bar none, was the 2-3 years after we got rid of our television as a result of achieving full salvation shortly after joining the church, and before I got my first computer. Combined with everything else I was no longer allowed to do, those years were brutal.

I got in church when I was in college, and my pastor at the time didn't mind video-I actually watched more PG movies in the year after getting in church than I did as a "sinner".

kinda goofy how modern technology is supposed to save time so we can do more things but still don't have the time to do them.

Simple concept really. Modern technology does indeed save a TON of time when it comes to manual, labor intensive calculations and record keeping, but technology also CREATES many more things that take up even more time. Whole industries and industries to support them have come into existence.
