I love those good ole family potlucks but we don't have hardly any family where we live. Just two relatives and that is a long story.
CC1, we love 'em too. But they really are a ton of work. But the effort is worth it when we watch our kids hanging out with their cousins. All of our kids hang out with each other all the time. My nephew comes and gets my boys to go bowl. My niece and my son Keith are best friends. So much so that the teachers at school have to keep them separated or they'll talk all day long!!!
I'm convinced that the reason the kids are all so close is because we do all these great 'family things' together all the time.
Besides that, I laughingly say that we're obligated to continue these good ole' family potlucks because that's the whole reason Walt married me to begin with. The first time he came to one of these, he left saying that he needed to become part of this family - just for the potlucks!!

Yikes!!! Bad timing for bad meat. Since it was just my wife and I today we stopped off at a restaurant we had not eaten at before on the way home.
It was one of those yuppie Applebees / Chilis type places called "Legends".
Being the cheapskate I am I was pleased to see that their lunch specials are not Monday thru Friday like most restaurants but is Sunday thru Friday!!
My wife is practically a vegetarian so she ordered a vegetable plate and I ordered a chicken entree off the lunch menu. We actually got out of there with just a $16.01 bill and that included a 25% tip!!!! I have never gotten out of a sitdown restaurant other than fast food ones for this little money in a long time.
Wait! You ate in a resturant NOT on an expense account?!?

I took it easy today.I bought a Sams Choice Spirial cut ham which has only to be heated ten minutes per pound and comes with a glaze packet. Then a veggie lasagna via Stouffers.Made a green bean cassarole and did peas and snaps and smoked ham hocks in the slow cooker.Added potato rolls, strawberry angel food cake and a huge sweet potatoe pie, cokes and ice and lunch was done in one hour thanks to some precooking.Since Grandma has had knee surgery and doesn't feel well and it all fell on me this year I did not do the traditional all night roast.God is good.We had ten people for lunch
and lots of leftovers.
