I am so humbled. Coming on here today and finding 34 posts in this thread means more to me than any of you can even imagine.

And I can't tell you how much of a comfort it has been to me to read so many of your similiar experiences. I've spent the whole day beating myself up and thinking that I don't know anyone else who has had a child get in this much trouble this young; wondering where we went wrong and how we can turn things around. You've given me hope and I am so very, very grateful!!!

Margie, in spite of our very best parenting efforts, our kids make mistakes. You certainly don't need to blame yourselves. We're going to continue to hold you up in prayer... know that we are here for you.

My husband has several stories of his son being arrested for pranks he pulled. He had to go to the jail I know of two times to bail him out. His son had to go and appear in court with his lawyer once and then clean the school on several weekends with his friends. His son has turned out to be a responsible business and family man and I might add as a step mom, one of the most loving guys I know. Margie, I think you are going through a right of passage that most parents experience with teenagers. I know this does not make it any easier, but know you are not alone nor or you a failure as a parent. It does not make your child a bad person either, just a kid that made a mistake and most of us fit that category too.

The good thing, which is hard to see, Margie, is that it is not near as bad as it seems. When my son was facing 38 yrs in prison not too long ago, it looked pretty bad! It still wasn't as bad as it seemed.....thank God. He is doing fine now!!!! Your son will be fine as well.

Margie I think what may add to your distress is the arson charge with Walt being a fire chief. But it is ok, God will take care of you and your son.

MOW! 38 years!! What in the world! Please tell me what happened and how he escaped that. You can take it to PM if you would rather. Oh my goodness, I am spastic over 3 days. I can't imagine how you and your wife must have felt looking at 38 years
