despite having been recently diagnosed with testicular cancer, U.S. Olympic hopeful Eric Shanteau is heading to Beijing to compete in the 200-meter breaststroke. He only 24, so very young!

Olympian Eric Shanteau has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Shanteau said he learned just a week before the Olympic trials in Omaha, Neb., that he has testicular cancer. His doctors cleared him to compete in that meet and he surprisingly made the team in the 200-meter breaststroke, finishing second behind Scott Spann and ahead of former world-record holder and heavy favorite Brendan Hansen.
Shanteau still plans to compete in Beijing as long as his doctors don't see the cancer spreading. Surgery would have kept Shanteau out of the water for 2 weeks which would have severely hurt his training and chances at the Olympics.
Congrats to Eric on his Olympic achievements and wishes of a speedy recovery!!!

Lance Armstrong is proof someone can survive this terrible cancer and lead a productive life. I hope this young man is able to do the same.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
