Re: How far do you drive to church?
Ours is 2.3 miles away... when we were in Tyler we drove 11 miles which was not bad either... the church before that... we had to walk..... 70 ft from our door to hubbys office door LOL that was the most difficult of em all NOT LOL
The furthest we have driven for church has been 59 miles and that was to a church we were helping in Louisiana because we lived by our home church but they desperately needed help so we drove there every weekend after our services.
Getting people to come is no problem here because everyone in town knows where our church is as it is pretty much the biggest church in our town and its on one of the main streets in town. They love to visit our church and most anyone you invite has either visited before or knows where it is.
We love our church!!!!

lol! this is so true. if you count non-upc churches, that number increases to about 20 within 5 miles! i live 5 miles away from one and 10 from another and drive 20 to a different one. but we lived in that town at the time and it's where i attended from age 18 and on so it is just home. plus the church down the road is a lot more conservative than what we're used to.

Re: How far do you drive to church?
i think it's very common for people to do this in all denominations...it is here anyway. i can drive to a town 30 miles away and see signs in people's yards advertising a church where we live and vice versa.

but in some cases, it isnt exactly that way. You go to a huge church. Honestly as much as you admire your pastor, the relationship isnt exactly personal....
plus understanding how you think about these things, I suspect a move while difficult might not be a negative.

What CC1 needs to do is move to a nice nearby UPC church. Hallelujah!
Then change his username on here to UPC1.

Re: How far do you drive to church?
I live in Arkansas and drive to Mississippi for church. My drive takes about 20 minutes if I take the dirt road and about thirty minutes if I take the Hwy.
Our UPC church split up last year. My new church is less than 1300 feet from the old UPC which is the only other UPC in mississippi for at least 45 miles. Within a quarter of a mile of our church there are two AOGs, two baptist churches, our charismatic church (oneness), a UPCI church, a Jehovah Witness, a Lutheren church, and right across the street is a Church of God.

It also keeps us from being able to attend many church classes, etc. Of course the past six months or so we have been "Sunday" Christians anyway as my wife is the nanny to a baby girl until 8 pm on Wednesdays.
