I think that God speaks specifically for specific times and purposes...it wouldn't translate well at all here.... because it would take His Words out of context and meaning... and lesson the value of His Words...

I agree with the above folks...

Following up on that, do we think its a bad idea generally to tell "an outsider" of a revelation or prophetic word the Lord gives?

I ask that because several times I have heard of people telling of prophecies and tongues/interpretation messages the lord gave to their church, and I've found it quite a blessing.

I agree that at times sharing these can be a blessing but I think what CS and others fear is that a thread would become a place to share the times when a human being "misses the mark". Let's face it, that does happen at times.

I am sure most of us have funny or sad stories of that happening but it is a very serious subject matter that should be carefully handled.

There is also the matter of keeping this kind of word in perspective and making sure it is not elevated above the written word of God that is not subject to the mistakes of a human being delivering it.

I must say I can agree to an extent but disagree to an extent also.

I'll give an example.
I was in a church once where a visiting minister told us of a vision the Lord gave him... in which he saw a church as a mountain with ice frozen at the top.. the sun rose up and melted the ice... the frozen ice became a trickle, then a small stream going down the mountain, making its way around various huge rocks, and becoming a bigger stream the more it continued.. then a became a sizable river and kept flowing until it flowed into the sea. Then his vision ended. The minister said the stream/river in the vision was the church he was speaking in. It was a blessing to hear that, the meaning was clear to all and all of us hearing it discerned it to be a true word of the Lord.

Even though that "word" was concerning that particular church, other people I've told it to were blessed by hearing it , and gave glory to God. In that instance, and in a few others over the years, I've never felt like anything but good would come out of me telling it to other "outside" saints. And the reaction to sharing such messages with other saints has always been positive.

So I can agree that certainly not every message should be posted on an internet message board there are times when sharing a message from the Lord with others can be a blessing to them as well.

Fair enough.
That idea has now been officially thrown into the recycle bin.
