Note to the reader: No one has yet to address the lovers fantasizing about each other prior to marriage in the Song of Solomon.
Paul advised that those who cannot contain (this is an acknowledgement that some simply can't contain) should marry, because it is better to marry than to live life burning with the passion of unmet needs. Nowhere did Paul condemn these virgins or widows who couldn't contain. Paul's advice is rather practical.

Did you notice that in chapter 4, (where the verbiage really heats up) that the term "spouse" is used several times? Why would you assume that he hasn't taken her as his wife at that point? What makes you think they're only talking about fantasies? It reads to me like real experiences being poetically described.

From my understanding the wedding takes place in Song of Solomon 3:6-5:1. Any fantasy or desires prior to this are before marriage. Since they are not condemned as sinners, I conclude that their thoughts and desires toward one another are healthy and normal.
