I'm hoping AQP!
The MIL just called me. My husband was sitting at the desk, saw the number on the ID Caller and said, "It's Liz. Get the cordless and go into the other room. I don't want to hear it." LOL!
Anyway, she profusely apologized for her mother's (the grandmother) actions, but said nothing about how SHE acted. She has been griping about this shower since January - every chance she got to say something to my daughter!
She said, "All I did was tell my son to call his grandmother and WHEW, I opened a can of worms. She must have been holding that in! We have never had a confrontation like that!"
I told her that I was not angry at anyone. But, I didn't know what her mother meant by not having a head table or tables at all. She said, "We are used to having a baby shower at someone's house and we don't spend that much money, but I told my mother that it was your decision and that you wanted that and it wasn't her business. I also told her that they made the decision to have the baby without anyone there and we need to accept that." Yea, right, I'm sure she said that to her mother. LOL!
I said, "Well, I'm not used to someone putting together a table swag so ugly. So, we are all surprised aren't we?" J/K!!!!! I didn't say that!
I did tell her something about the grandmother saying she wasn't going over to my daughter's house unless invited and that we don't go over unless we call first. I also told her that my daughter was probably used to the way we do things - we don't get involved in their personal lives - hint, hint.....
Anyway, she didn't own up to her part, but I'm sure it was a little embarrassing to admit how catty she was or perhaps just a whiner. I can forget about it and move on. I'm sure that's the last we will hear of it. Of course, the grandmother may call....... LOL!

I want to use the thumbsup smilie, but I'm just not happy that she had to yell and then have a crying spell. Wish it didn't have to go down in that way. But, it had to be done, nonetheless or it would have kept festering.
Thanks for all of the support! Can't talk about this at church, since they attend sometimes (son's baptism, Christmas and Easter productions) and people know them. LOL!

Re: PO's Best Christmas Present EVER!!!!!
First thing - Thank you for sharing the picture! Would loved to have seen their faces - but believe me, I totally understand you cropping it! Her little tummy is SO cute! LOVE it!
Second thing - wow! I hate that your daughter had to get upset and have the crying spell - but..... maybe it is better that it all came out in the open BEFORE the baby is born. Babies can read and sense the tension and it will be hard enough it being a first baby without that confrontation happening!
Anxiously awaiting for more news regarding the birth!

Pressing - On,
sorry to hear that your daughter had to go thru this, but frankly, GOOD FOR HER! She said what she needed to say and now they can move on - hopefully with some changes having been made by the MIL.
And, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm thinking someone (you) taught her well how to stand up for herself. Good job. LOL

She called me a little while ago and told me more of the episode.
I said, "Now, exactly, how long were you yelling at her?" LOL! She was laughing at how big her husband's eyes were. You know that had to be funny! I'm not a screamer, but if you make me really, really mad for a very long time, I am liable to scream and throw something. LOL!
One thing she did say, which I was very glad about - she told her MIL that she didn't want to ever hear another "guilt trip" from the grandmother about their having to drop by or call. Very glad that she said that. Now, that has been going on since the day they got married and it has greatly annoyed them both. It's not like they live around the block or even in the same city.

Me too! If this little episode hadn't come up, I wouldn't have had much to post about (lol) - just waiting. I will post when she goes into labor so that anyone reading can be in prayer. I am a little nervous about her having it at home.

Thanks, Margie. That is very nice of you. I think having 6 sisters and one brother, I learned early to stand up for myself. LOL!
We were agreeing, earlier, that the MIL is a nice person and so is the grandmother. Don't really know what happened, but we can move on. Thanks again, Margie!!
And really, I think she is kind of shook up that she raised her voice. She asked me, "So, are you saying it was bad of me to yell at her?" She needed to ask? LOL! I said, "Well, it was annoying for her to keep pestering you both about seeing and calling her and the grandparents. She probably needed to hear what you had to say, but if you could have avoided yelling at her, that would have been much better." LOL!
I just think enough was enough and she came unglued. LOL!

That will be here before you know it and both of you ladies will be surprised how fast it flies!! I can't believe that Eliza is two. She is such a priss - and talks all the time! Blink your eyes twice and they are grown.
