Note the following:
"that many within the movement have not moved beyond Acts 2:38 and Knowing the book." Show me where this is of "an insulting nature." Whether the statement is true or not is subject to debate; if you disagree with it then provide evidence to support your disagreement or, at the very least, ask him to provide evidence to prove the veracity of the statement.
"He went as far to exhort the listeners that many in the movement don't really KNOW GOD.
One interesting quote from the message and I paraphrase is .....
'You are married to doctrine and have divorced youself from Deity.'"
Show me where this is of "an insulting nature."
Finally, he asked the question, "Have some made Acts 2:38 and standards THE MESSAGE ... while Jesus is sitting on the outside looking in?" Notice that this is a question. By your own question "To suggest that Acts 2:38 believers and adherents may be idolaters?" it seems you are suggesting that he has evil motives - or at the very least that you are so married to Acts 2:38 as the end-all and be-all of your faith you are insulted that he would even dare to ask his question.
At some point, one needs to move beyond Acts 2:38, beyond entering the door of the sheepfold, and onto maturity as described in Hebrews 5:12 through 6:3?

Thank you for a critical and fair analysis .... CHAN ... many are just WAY TO SENSITIVE!!!!

If one accepts " Acts 2:38" as the means whereby one obeys the gospel call then that is merely the process of stepping through the open door and into the Church. It isn't enough to just step through the door, one has to go on from there to take one's proper place in the Church and to grow in one's relationship with God. After reading your post, I was thinking about Hebrews 5:12 through 6:3 (ESV), "For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings*, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits."
*The KJV says "baptisms" here.

Chan,
You might find this site interesting:

Bro Mangun preaches a couple of sermons elaborating on what Arnold taught at BOTT called the Pursuit of God. He makes some very good points in both but I like the second sermon on Jan 31 better.

By examining the title of this sermon series.... one would surmise that Mangun is in agreement with Jeff Arnold ... are some of the leaders seeing this problem in the movement also????

If Ac. 2:38 is the "banner" instead of Jesus Christ, there is a serious problem.

If you watch Mangun's famous TV advertising speech ... before he states his pro-advertising ... even he apparently uses the banner to make his point for advertising ....

Acts 2:38 is not our god. It is our road map to God.

No, he is not using Acts 2:38 as a banner. He is encouraging the saints to KNOW GOD and to have an intimate relationship with God.

POA even has billboards and yard signs that proclaim Acts2:38 all over the city.

Do you see folks pulling over to the side of the road to get out and worship the signs?
