This is a very hard decision for us as we have loved and been faithful to Christ Church for many years, and really enjoy your thought provoking messages.
To us it comes down to what I believe to be a crisis of leadership. We simply don’t have confidence in those you’ve apparently chosen to develop and replace you. With the apparent deterioration of the PCI roots of Christ Church, which attracted us from the beginning and kept us there for many years, we want to experience other charismatic type churches in our area that may not have so much liturgical type influence in their worship services.
We simply choose to move on in a slightly different direction than the road that Christ Church has apparently chosen.
Blessings,

An incredibly hard decision, I'm sure.
My compliments in dealing with the pastor in a forthright and honourable manner.
I always admire people who not only do the right thing, but do the right thing in the right way.

The mistake here, I think, would be to try and engage in any rational manner. Reason and evidence (even evidence from the Bible) plays very little part in this.

I think you are right.

Berkley, you asked me under one of your other "names", Houston, not to
reply to your posts. I will reply to Berkley. "You don't have the slightest

Steinway,
The Lord will help you find a church to be comfortable in. Give yourself time to SHOP. I'm praying for you.

Plenty of time... you don't want to commit to an assembly to soon find yourself in the same situation.

Re: Perplexed!
Visited a church on Sunday that I was very impressed with both spiritually and doctrinally. The red flags were that the pastor leads praise and worship (one of the best I've ever heard), made announcements and then preached! He did EVERYTHING! He had the mic the entire service! He is extremely talented, but I can't help to wonder what happens when he is not there!
The church is only about three years old and runs around 200-300 people, so I can give them a pass....maybe.
I may visit again, but I'll continue my search.

Hey, if you are good, you are good! That would be a red flag to me too.

I would think if there are 300 people, someone else might be capable of leading worship

In three years a leadership team should be coming on by now, he will not be able to continue that pace, plus the folks will get immune to his voice. jmho

Re: Perplexed!
Fifty three years ago next month, my late father opened the doors of a mission that would become a thriving place of refuge today. He was preparing a place in the Spirit for four generations of his future family. I don't think he realized the extent of what would be done with what might have been seemingly so small. He did his part but God has given and continues to give the increase. Little is MUCH, when GOD IS IN IT!
I would say that Dad probably "did everything" with the help of Mom leading the singing, and me playing my accordian. I was 19 yrs, unmarried, (at least for a few months). God was setting things in order for the next 50+ yrs. We cannot always see what GOD is doing and WILL DO if we just simply trust and obey.
This was God's "Baby" and Dad felt responsible for its "life, safety and protection". After all it was his Heavenly Father who had sowed the seed/vision for this church plant. He intended to carefully tend it with the leading of the Spirit.
An adult class teacher spoke yesterday about church growth. There are many characteristics of a healthy church. A church definitely should be growing, BUT it should be healthy growth.
Just some memories and thoughts.
