God is faithful! We have been through some tremendous things through the years, but I always knew if I could just get alone with God, everything would be all right.

PO - - I think this is the difference and where sometimes you have a disconnect because it's so against you and the way you believe/feel. There are many that do not have this type relationship and just do what man tells them to do.
You aren't ever going to be like that - - you are going to search it out, pray about it, ask God for direction, etc. If everyone could be like that, then God could really move! It's man's agenda and those that just go with the flow not seeking if it's right or not that keeps the church down.
*All in my humble opinion.

I guess because, as you said, I didn't grow up in this that I can't identify.
A friend of mine was sharing a story that Joyce Meyer shared with them about a meeting she was requested to speak at in San Antonio. She talked about how she couldn't get this one piece of hair to lay down right. She was getting so frustrated! She went on to tell how God had spoke to her and instructed her to ask HIM to help her fix her hair. She thought that was silly and refused to do it. Well, she was pressed for time and finally asked God for His help - her hair worked perfectly! LOL!
She wanted to bring that to the audience. That is how God is and should be in our lives - that present and that real.
So, if I could be angry and critical and wanted to focus on something, it would not be the AI. It would be that parents and leaders are not teaching people that simple truth. God is accessible and present - prove Him and see!
That is one thing I taught my children - ask God. Go and ask God.

I couldn't agree with you MORE!!!!
It's not being taught in the church - the focus now is about AI - looking Apostolic. This is where it is sad.

I don't, totally, agree with you here. I know that does exist and it's my personal observation that it is the smaller churches who focus on this the most. But that is not all these people are doing. They simply, at face value, believe what Deut 22:5 and I Tim 2:9 says. It doesn't matter if we agree or not. That is what they feel it is saying. And in the midst of transitioning, we see a bit of what we call hypocrisy - bling, bling in the hair, etc.
The tenets of what I believe is the salvation message - Acts 2:38, moving of God's Spirit, beautiful worship, beautiful music, prayer, etc. is all working. Therefore, I don't see it as ALL is lost, which is the impression I am getting from the posts here. ALL is not lost.
In the midst of the AI, God is doing a work. And I believe we need to be careful how we interfere with that.
I posted a link that Focus on the Family put out speaking of losing 3 out of 4 of the youth in this country. So, it's not just a UPCI AI thing. Our country is in trouble. I agree with MP's take here:

Lets me know that it's not just the Protestant movement that is feeling the downturn.
Also, to the comment about people backsliding in America, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it has not as much to do with the power in the churches as it has to do with the prosperity in the nation. If these folks come from countries that have no professional sports, no leisure activities, and no money to attend them even if they existed, it could well be a contributing factor when they come to a country with 500 channels on basic cable, more to do OUTSIDE the church that inside the church, and money with which to indulge these pleasures. Just a thought.

I have to say Renda, I have not heard this very much. Certainly not in my home church, and I don't remember hearing it much at district events. (disclaimer, I tend to not go to those much, and I might have blocked it out if I had...)
I don't think it is quite across the board as I am seeing projected here, but I do not deny that it is becoming a issue.
I am going to a district Ladies Conference in a few weeks, I will be listening to hear how or if this is presented there.

I agree, Dizzy. I think they may focus on dressing modestly with no jewelry and in dresses, but not specifically focusing on the need to have an Apostolic Identity. I've not seen or heard that.
I have one coming up as well. I'll report whether that is the main message being propagated. But I won't be posting pictures making fun of people. LOL!

P-O, may I ask you the difference between "carnal" reasoning and "spiritual" reasoning?

LOL! Well, if you don't understand that, then I can't help you.
Uh, carnal vs. spiritual. It's not that hard. Think about it a little bit.
I decided to make it easy for you. If someone asked you what decision you think they should make, would you say, "Whatever you decide on will be fine" OR do you say, "I'll pray about it with you." That's the difference between carnal and spiritual.
