Currently my organization is NOT progressive at all, and its only a minority of us who want to progress into something that’s more then an emotional satisfying church service. I am thinking about joining a UPCI church when I move back to ATLANTA but am extremely afraid of how I will be received.

Just don't go to a UPC with jumpers if you don't like cruisematics...and aviod Atlanta Bishops church at all costs...might be too progressive for you

First thing first, as a male, I enjoy wearing facial hair. Can someone explain to me the "no facial hair" rule? The African American church has never had a problem with facial hair and well, I just don’t get it.

There is no official rule....now you might just want to go to ABs church...all the men there sport goatees...or so I heard.

Next, I have 2 TV's!

Backslider...you really need to get to a UPC fast! We can pray those debil visions out

What in the world am I going to do with them if I join the UPCI.

Put a table cloth over it...what's what some do and call it a table. Hide them in the bedroom...thats what some others do too...Or just refuse to call the TVs and call them instead monitors.

Sell them? Throw it away?

Donate them to the local UPC pastor...rumor has it most have a TV anyways but just preach against them to look good to other UPC preachers

And uh, after I do that, what are my alternatives for no longer watching TV?

Pray? read the word? Go to the movies? Watch DVDs on the monitor? Waste your time here?

I have no problem with the tube, since I am Holy Ghost filled, I allow the Spirit of God to tell me what’s right and wrong to watch.

That's impossible. Without a filter of some sort you are damned by watching TV...it's the devils inroad into your house man! Get rid of it!

Finally, the black apostolic church has a misconception that the UPCI is a racist organization. Help me understand if this is true or not. How will I be received as a black male. I have a calling on my life and plan on getting ordained if I come over.

Sorry friend...we only allow whites, hispanics,asians and martians...no blacks lol...of course blacks are allowed.

I believe in wearing clergy collars and robes when I preach. (side bar). Uh, help me understand why I don’t see any African Americans in upper clergy positions in the organization.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I genuinely have a concern and just want to know first hand from people who might already be a part of this organization.

Other than the collar and robes things I think you might have no problem in many UPCs but they very from church to church....

I was not there and don't know all the details, but maybe it was not bigotry or racism. Maybe it was sincere ignorance.....what?

Yeah...in my area black people go to black churches...whites go to white churches and hispanics go to hispanic churchs....Philipinos go to their own church...the rest are mixes, but we have several churches that are mostly or all black, white, hispanic or asian...

So maybe his perception was just that black people in that area prefered to be with other blacks....call it ignorant, but it might not be racism or bigotry
