Dan, yak in circles, yak in a straightline, yak about whatever you feel to yak about.
If you extend any action in agreement with what has been provided it somehow smells like a work that then links work with salvation.
Mental assent is the closest, non-action idea to use in a discussion board exchange. Please, the drama you brought in that "your side" stuff has reached cliche' status.
Dan, your willingness to engage discussion boards will no doubt out last mine.
Tell me Dan, what is God's ordained purpose for water baptism since according to the gospel of Dan, it has NOTHING to do with salvation?

Again you have put words in my mouth ... it's somewhat frustrating to carry a conversation w/ you ... TBP ...
What is God's ordained purpose for the Lord's supper? I think that's where you'll find the answer ....
Neither the Lord's Supper or Baptism ... write it down .... so you don't forget ... CAUSE SALVATION
Our salvation is in jeapordy if we willfully choose to disobey any of God's commandments ... baptism, loving our neighbor, etc, etc, etc.
Does loving you neighbor cause salvation ??????

Dan,
I understand what you are saying about baptism being a commandment, but you know I disagree with you that it's only a commandment and nothing else. You seem to willfully lay aside other scriptures that teach baptism is for something...salvation, circumcision, a figurative burial with Christ, remission of sins, the removing of the body of sin, a washing, part of regeneration, part of being born again...... Why do you lay aside these other important aspects of baptism?

dan,
I have repeatedly stated what I believe is the purpose of water baptism in our response to hearing.
you dan have not helped the reader understand what the purpose is.
dan, you seem to demonstrate considerable skill for a kind of rhetorical circling. I am not trying to receive from you, I am asking for you to tell the reader...according to the gospel of Dan,
what is the purpose for God's word commanding water baptism?

You missed it ... then ... in case you forgot to read it ... or casually glanced at it .... this post to you in this thread tells about how baptism identifies us w/ Christ
http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/sho...&postcount=261
I also made reference to what it signifies ... earlier ... if it doesn't match your baptismal regenerationist view ... that's an entirely different story.
And also said this:
What is written here is not to take away from the importance of baptism. I want to make it unequivocally clear that I believe that baptism is necessary for every Christian. It is not optional. It is a holy command of our Lord and His Apostles that each and every Christian should be baptized. What I am saying is that baptism is not the means to salvation.

If I [Dan] was a Israelite I would not have had to:
prepare a passover supper
borrow from the eqyptians
slay a lamb
put the blood on the doorposts
I would not have had to get my stuff together and leave
I would not have had to stop when the pillar stopped and move when the pillar moved
I would not have had to wait while the winds blew
I would not have had to walk across on dry land
I would have just stayed in Egypt and watched God condemn my slave masters to death.
So, Dan and Fellicity,
sorry, I explained what mental assent gets used as a phrase.
Dan, Felicity,
Is God a respector of persons,
why did he put those Israelites through so much actions that required following, to receive his provision, but for you good folks, nothing is required?
