BOOM, what is Pastor Johnny Mac doing? Is he leaving or staying? If NM in Chico is leaving, the family from The Rock church as well, won't that MacDonald/Haney family reunion be a hoot, sheesh! Like my family in San Diego, where you are either a preacher or a criminal!!!

And many is the day that I have driven to Columbus for one service (4 hours one way) and driven straight back home.
So I guess the problem that I see from my house is the spirit of the thing.
Do people divide for convenience or agenda?!

Year after Year after Year with gas over 3 dollars a gallon and people still not getting it? lol.
BTW in what state were you living when you "once" drove to Louisville? The same state or some other?
As for the "Divide" stuff...if dividing is so wrong, let's eliminate ALL Districts and have our annual campmeeting in the same location every year and we can all fly to campmeeting yearly, youth conv yearly, district meeting yearly and GC...won't work. It's about fellowship as much as convenience.
And for us it's about redrawing the sectional map..our section is a 4 hour drive from one end to the other

The reason so many of the pastors there are fighting it is, they don't like who is at the top of the bucket.

To create a district due to geography makes perfect sense. I've lived in more than one state that required a drive of 3 to 6 hours for any fellowship. The camp was on one side of the state and if you lived on the other side..........it was a days drive.
If for no other reason, the cost of gas suggests having sensible decisions made.

Our district split a few years ago for that reason and many more... Our district has grown as a result...

The post told you it wasn't the same state, Prax...it was an 11 hr. trip.
I lived where I live now...Michigan...
As for "dividing..." I didn't say it was wrong...the question was what is the reason people divide?!
You answered it...'nuff said...

I am told if you were to hit it hard- say 70 MPH when you can, you can be in San Diego in 21 hrs.......
Speculation over "the reason" seems to run rampant here.
I knew one man who wanted to be a DS. When he was not elected, he created a metro zone. A Home Missions church MOVED rather than be in subjection to the man. The Metro Zone is gone, and the man is not more than a memory.
It happens in small Districts too.

Good, so you can appreciate an in state district meeting year after year of 5 hours or more for some folks. For me it's 2 hours
