Probably alot of them had a "see it to believe it" mentality. Poor Thomas just gets the rap all the time.

As an aside,.... I think the Lord knew who to address openly.

The thought came to me tonight at the end of service.
Sarah doubted God that she would have a child and Ishmael was born and has been a thorn in the side of Israelites since.
Can anyone remember if there was a time that David doubted God? I know he disobeyed God but I can't recall off the top of my head if he ever doubted God.

Maybe both ... he was also fearful of the the Philistine king ... choosing to pretend he was mad ... keep in mind he was out of place from where God wanted him ... leaning on his own understanding and exited looking like a fool ... v10-13

Also ... when we disobey ... we often do so doubting God's Word ... thus trying to do things our way .... leaning on ourselves as apparently is the case w/ the census.

I'll chew on this awhile more. I am remembering also that Jonathan convinced him to leave after Saul threw his javelin at David. I know Jonathan feared for David's life, perhaps David did also.
