I bought a Tom Tom One from Radio Shack about a month ago for $300.00. When I need it, I love it. I'm going to test it out in New Mexico this weekend.

I recommend the Bible.....
It always shows me where I am, and where I need to be!

Who has one and likes it? Which one? Why?
And of course, it you hate yours, why?

Why in the world would you want a GPS? You're opening yourself up to further government intrusion in your life.

In New York State using the cellphone hands-free in the car is the law.

Are you for real?
I will use the GPS daily on the job and also to find out where you live, get your medical records and your social security etc., when I come to Buffalo New York next month!

(Kind of)
My sister and her family of 8 were down in Orlando a few weeks ago and a truck driver friend of hers loaned her her GPS. They got out of seeing Shamo (sp?) and was looking for a place to eat. It was just 7:00OM. As you can imagine that is not an easy thing to do in Orlando, but with having to appease 8 people it is even harder. They were using the GPS to find different restaurants, they finally found one that they all agreed on. No problem it was still early in the evening and they had the directions right there in front of them. My sister (who does have her blonde (sp?) moments, say "menu" on the GPS and decides to see what that restaurant has on their menu. Before her husband has time to stop her she pushes the button and it goes back to the start. She thought that the menu for the restaurant was on the GPS! None of them could remember the name of the restaurant! They ended up driving around for hours looking for this restaurant.
Moral of the story is...don't touch that menu button and don't just depend on the GPS. :0)

This is too funny! My dad's GPS has a button for recent addresses. I think she could have just hit it.

A traditional GPS is only a receiver, not a transmitter...
If you have something like Lo-jack or one of those kid finders, those have some sort of supplemental transmitter to broadcast the coordinates that the onboard GPS receiver has received.

I have a Garmin, I love it and use it every day. We are in a different city each week and are out on outreach everyday cruising the streets reaching people, there is nothing like a GPS to keep you from being lost! I always set the location to the church we are at and where ever I go i can just click the church location and it will get me back there.
Also it is very helpful in telling you where any gas stations, restaurants or hotels are at. As well as if you type the name of a restaurant like lets say Lamberts Cafe even though its 490 miles away it will tell you the address name and phone number and how to get there!
I love ours and am thankful for such technology....and im not worried if every CIA agent in the world knows where Im at, maybe they will see there are people in need if they follow me! lol

Yes. Any one using the technology opens themselves up to the government finding another means of tracking you. I don't trust the government.

Or you can just look in the phone book.

Don't you think there are already ways of obtaining that kind of information if someone tries hard enough? Did you know, for example, that there's a website that's connected with Gannett News Service somehow where you can look up the salaries of every person employed by the federal government?
I don't trust the government and am not inclined to give it more ways of taking away my liberties.

Receives from an outside source, a source the government can tap into if it really wanted to.

Either way, I don't trust the government and can't imagine why anyone would want to open themselves up to further government intrusion into their lives.
