The answer is found in Scripture, but nobody wants to actually obey the Scripture:
Deuteronomy 17:14-20 KJV
When thou art come unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me; [15]
Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother. [16] But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the Lord hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. [17] Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. [18]
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: [19] And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: [20] That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
Christians are forbidden to allow foreignors and the ungodly to be emplaced as rulers over us. If foreignors and the ungodly are emplaced in power over us it is because we have either utterly backslid as a nation and are under the judgment of God or it is because we have utterly backslid as a nation and have been conquered (also a judgment of God).
But that's water under the bridge, we've been in that situation for a long long time. So what is to be done?
Ephesians 3:7-12 KJV
Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. [8] Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; [9] And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: [10]
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, [11] According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: [12] In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
The church is to be announcing to everyone and especially to the civil powers "the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord." In other words, the church is supposed to boldly proclaim to the government the Lordship and authority of Christ in ALL spheres and the revealed will of God as written in the Holy Bible.
And if governments refuse to submit to Christ and recognise His Sovereignty?
Acts 5:29 KJV
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said,
We ought to obey God rather than men.
However, the churches for the most part don't seem interested in any of that for some reason.
