Here is a link to the opening song from our Praise & Worship night a few days ago at our local University.

So your not Pentecostal I get it.

I still hear some Keith Green music played in church.

Variation in style or age (or language) does not bother me. Repeating a chorus more than twice is unacceptable.
Yea you wont hear much music like THIS played in Church!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Music in the church is for the purpose of teaching the Word of God, and it is to be primarily congregational singing. The song you posted has some Biblically questionable lyrics, and the melody is not really suitable for congregational singing. It might be good for someone's "special song" ie a solo presentation.

But I see no reason why THIS song is some kind of censored super-truth-anointed song as you seem to be suggesting.

Too many people judge these things based entirely on what tickles their personal fancy instead of thinking Biblically and rationally about it.

Oh, and by the way, it's actually a pretty decent song. So I'm not basing my statements on my personal like or dislike of the style or sound quality, etc. Not all Christian music is suitable for congregational worship.

What manuscripts are you using to say that music in the church is just for teaching the word. What about lifting up and exalting God, singing praises?

I was agreeing with him. I think its a great teaching song, nonetheless it would be seen as a "solo" and then only in a rare Church.

What posts are you using to say I said "just"? Also, how is lifting up and praising God not teaching the Word?

"Music in the church is for the purpose of teaching the Word of God"

There are many praise and worship songs that dont teach the Word of God yet they are still lifting up Jesus. You dont believe this?

Psalm 150 is a song. Was it used to teach law or doctrine or any other teaching. Was it not primarily used to simply praise God?
