I always wear hose however my personal opinion is it is none of a man's business to get up in a pulpit and talk about ladies underwear...We once had a preacher want to tell our ladies to wear hose I said Brother these ladies do not even have bread money...and most did not even have shoes just little flip flops...

I am NOT in any way against dressing modest so don't imagine you are reading between the lines...but...when a man has to preach on clothes all the time Something is usually wrong in his heart....Yes I do talk with our ladies but I am a woman...that sure makes a world of difference.

Thank you Sister for speaking up for the ladies. USUALLY if a preacher keeps harping on a particular item, it is a problem to him and he is preaching his own convictions (not on panty hose - but something else). I have seen that many times. The gospel applies wherever we are. Most of these are handmade rules that have no Bible to back it. I definitely believe in modesty but somethings are ridiculous. I have on my hose right now not because of rules but just my preference. If a preacher is noticing whether his congregation has on hose, he has no business looking for that. He has a problem.
In our younger days, we had a pastor who would not let the boys play baseball on the church property. My husband was Youth leader and talked to him. Kids have to have activities and it is a lot better they play on church property than get in the wrong crowd or get bored because there is nothing for them to do. These were on fire for God young people.
Just hangups !!!
I used to know a pastor who did not believe in even sending out Christmas cards and preached against it in the church. It was an independent Oneness church - not UPC.
I am sure you have seen more than I have along these lines.

Not playing baseball on church property has many different issues which could come into play. So, I'll give the guy a pass on that one. I guess he didn't council with everyone to get their approval or disapproval. Chalk this up to a typical one sided story and forum pastor lynching. He most likely preached against Xmas trees, Holly, and fat eleves in red pajamas? I don't do Xmas, so hear hear to the GIB who preached against Hallmark.
