Yes. To be allowed to be a church member you have to sign a form stating that you comply with a list of standards to be a member and an oath to forfeit your membership if you decide not to live by the preached standards in the future. We have attended for about 2 1/2 years but are not eligible to be members because we don't live by the same standards. Hence feeling like perpetual visitors.

Having to sign a contract to me would be burdensome. Get a motel room and watch t.v. and the contract is broken! Worrying if I'm being honest after visiting relatives while they have the t.v. on etc.
Not signing is like - look at me Mr. & Mrs not compliance. If you want to be more involved sounds like you will have to find another church. There are other apostolic churches in Tulsa.
Just being an attendee would work for me.

Is there anyone here who knows of a more liberal Tulsa church? I think I will have to go outside the UPC.

Some are & some are not, same as with any Org. There is also the PAW org. It is mostly african american but tend to be not as extreme.
Are you rooted to stay in Tulsa?

Re: New here, with a question.
To the person who pm'd me--
I have tried to send a response twice. I can't see it in my sent folder, so I don't know if I am technologically illiterate or you are getting them. I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you. :-)

Re: New here, with a question.
This evening, I was able to speak with two ministers in the administration of the AWCF (Apostolic World Christian Fellowship). They have referred me to a church in the Tulsa area I can try this weekend. The pastor was in the UPC in the past and left and has joined the AWCF. He sounds pretty liberal. I will update later after I visit. There are apparently options out there, but they require a lot of detective work to find.
