I started to respond to LaFon when I saw your post. A round of applause for both of you. You narrow the focus and brought it back to where it belongs. While there are excellent "methods and tools' to assist us in our studies, but the presence of the Spirit is essential. His absence is lethal to understanding.
Timmy, I don't know if your post was meant as "tongue in cheek" but your words as well as Bro. LaFon's are what the Church and especially our Bible Colleges and Seminaries desperately need to be reminded of.
