I go to the altar kinda often so they leave me alone pretty much.
plus, it's a big church, and I would not be surprized if some of them don't recognize us still.

Oh, thanks for the explanation. The experience at the altar reminded me of a smaller church.
I'm sorry you had to go through chemo and losing your son.

thank you it's been a difficult journey,
I'm keenly aware of how fragile, beautiful,
and precious every moment of life is.
Wallace Stevens said "death is the mother of beauty"
It's an odd way to put it . . .
but isn't the delicate, dew-kissed, sweetly fragrant rose in bloom all the more breathtaking knowing the fragility and impermanence of it?
or as Joni Mitchell sang it:
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
‘Til it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Amanah,
Many years ago I sat at the piano on a Sunday night and sang a chorus.
Make me what I ought to be,
Help me to me more like Thee.
Bid me come up higher til Thy Face I see,
Make me what I ought to be.
The following week we buried our five and half year old daughter. Talk about a crushing blow.
In Sept of 2007, I stood at my 50th Class Reunion and thanked God for allowing us (all of my classmates were still alive) to be together after 50 yrs. Also thanked Him that all ten of my siblings and I were still alive at that time.
Little did I know that the next morning they would find a younger brother dead. Another blow. But we allow God to mold us and make us better instead of bitter. It is the crushing of the rose that releases the fragrance of the flower.

Beautiful! Yes, exactly! He gives us peace in the midst of the storm and that is a beautiful thing to know in this world!
