It reflects upon a time when we made our own clothing and weren't slaves to what the stores were willing to shop.
Proverbs speaks of such a time... and such a woman... and it praises her well.
And it's a plus that those who still choose to do so have now lost their local options completely?

btw, i don't like walmart either, but i go there sometimes. its like a free trip to the zoo. And that is sad on several levels. As I stand there in line with my bag of socks, ugly winter hat and as seen on tv slice it dice it doohickey i thinks "whoa.. i'm one of the animals. Anyone looking at me? or photographing me?"
slowly i turn.....

When walmart came to SE CT round 18 years ago they wiped out two instate dept store chains --> Caldor and Ames. They held a monopoly in the area up until Target entered the fray a couple of years ago.
Not just walmart though, the coming of Staples killed a local stationary store with two locations, Home Depot killed a local hardware store. Borders killed two local owned bookstores and so on.
And you really can't blame people for not sticking to community brand loyalty. If I can buy Gizmo A at wally's for $3.00 and the same Gizmo A is $5.00 from local businessman.... sorry dude, i need that extra two bucks these days.
Every business must change with the times, or go out of business. That is the way business works in a free market. Walmart is not evil, I wish our government had some of their business sense. What public or private company could get trillions in debt before the principles, know that there is a problem. You can't prop up businesses that are not able to compete, a free market must remain free.

Yep... the giant will step on your local economy and take and steal from your heritage and they have no interest in the locals opinion or will.
That demonstrates of mindset of... say what you will... I WILL do as I choose and, as they say back home... you can suck eggs.
To think that the right to franchise almost didn't pass all those many years ago. How different our lives would be had it not passed.
Digging, give it up it is a different day. Everybody "hates" to shop at WM, but somehow they are the largest retailer in the world. Somebody has no problem shopping there and getting those lower prices. DUH!!

I will simply quote F. Scott Fitzgerald...
Quote:
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless yet be determined to make them otherwise.
One need not have any hope of success to continue to fight for right.
One need not have any hope of success to continue to fight for right.
I admire your spirit, carry on!!!!
