Self-deception with mental smoke and mirrors;
The principle in the Garden of Eden was the damaging of a personal relationship with God. The "knowledge of Good and Evil" veiled the mind of Adam because of all the he learned about the forbidden things that God would reveal in their relationship. Now, through sin, Adam was hit with knowledge and revelation of his nakedness. (His sexuality, his self-examinatory marveling at both himself and Eve, and his physical independence from his creator)
When God asked rhetorically, "Where art thou?" He was referencing the covering of the mind, body, and spirit these revelations had produced. His mind was veiled from the Holiness of God.
Paul's exhortation in Corinthians concerning prayer were a reflection of their restored relationship and the importance of how we approach God. Women "must" approach God in submission. God gave their hair as both a reminder and beautifier to sustain and embrace her role in nature.
Men must shave and cut their hair because when they approach God they must be free of vanity and self-centered awareness. Our "head" is the critical point of restoration, regeneration, and teaching. Our approach to God must be with Him exalted and His divine plan our priorities.
Eph. 4:17 "I would not have you walk as other gentiles walk, in the vanity of the mind, seeing their understanding darkened. (that word darkened could also be veiled.)
We need every advantage in our quest to restore ourselves unto God. We are not there yet. And one of the greatest compliments we can give our restoration process is to place our head, totally under the subjection of God. and we cannot do that with a veil of vanity.
This principle was echoed by Bro Chan in the old testament. Egypt shaved their faces religiously in honor to their gods. When Israel was delivered, God gave them a seemingly unimportant law. Don't trim or cut in any way your beards. Thus He removed the vanity factor from the tradition.
Paul speaking to the gentiles echoed the same principle, short hair, shorn (shaven) head. We need to quit looking to destroy the old paths, and use the grey matter to find ways to get closer to Him.
