I can't wait to see this movie! But, alas, must wait until it comes out on DVD since our church frowns on movie theaters...sinful, sinful places they are.

actually she said it's the movie theatre that's frowned upon, not the movie,
BTW having access to porn on net doesn't justifying watching movies. Not saying it's wrong.
Sorry if I read too far into your post.
I've just seen a very inconsistent trend with the Ultra Cons, going head on against TV, but are online. The bottom line truth is, you can't preach against TV and be on the Internet and remain consistent. If you’re against TV, stay off the Internet or you will confuse people.
They both are about "Choices", and there is good material online, on TV, and even at the Theater.
BTW, I went to the Theater for the first time in a long time a few weeks ago with my daughter and her husband. IMO, the Theater if far different than when I was young. I found the environment family oriented. No smoking, clean, and many different shows a person could attend under one building. People were friendly and the crowd was orderly.
There was nothing about the show that I would consider evil, unless you watched a particular movie that would be offensive, via a person's personal convictions.
So many Pentecostals treat entertainment of the Arts as demonic, by way of movies or other performances of acting, and then go to Disneyland or seek out other forms of being entertained. I think it's time we wake up and accept the fact, entertainment, love, faith, family, and hard work make up a good life.
So this new movie, a take on the old "Karate Kid" movies is out soon. It features Will Smith's son Jaden and my favorite Jackie Chan. The funny thing is Chan is Chinese, the movie is set in China and it's about Kung Fu, not Karate. lol
Isn't Karate, like, all pagan n Eastern mysticism n stuff? Just sayin'.
The word "karate" is Japanese for "empty hand" and was developed on the island of Okinawa when the Japanese confiscated all weapons from the Okinawans. Thus they had to learn to fight "empty handed". There is no inherent mysticism involved. Kung Fu, on the other hand, was developed in China by the monks of the Shaolin Temple, who practiced a mystic religion based on "life energy", known as "Chi"(CHEE). Kung Fu is all about the Chi. Developing it, absorbing it from your environment, using it to put a beatdown on your enemies, etc.
I was a huge fan of the original, and of all the old Bruce Lee Kung Fu movies, and of Jackie Chan, so I definitely plan to see this one.

Thanks. When I was in the AG, there was some stigma attached to all the Asian martial arts, on the basis of assumed connections to "eastern religion", etc. It doesn't surprise me that there is/was some misinformation going around! (BTW, one of our boys did Karate, and we didn't let the stigma bother us. We were never very good Pentecostals! )

I never learned Karate or Kung Fu but in the area I grew up in you had to learn "Tire Tool!" to survive! And you could sure use it to put a beatdown on your enemies, etc.
