Mercy in this life often reaps mercy in this life.
But in the judgment, we are going to be judged by our obedience to the Book.

We receive mercy in this life only? Do you have scriptures for that?
Read the scripture in my sig. We're going to receive mercy if we are merciful in the judgement of our deeds in this body.

James 2
12 So whenever you speak, or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law of love, the law that set you free. 13 For there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others. But if you have been merciful, then God's mercy toward you will win out over his judgment against you.

get your hide somewhere where you can go to church.
Excuses won't hold water in the judgment.

I did not say in this life only.
My point is that showing mercy in this life will not excuse our disobedience in the judgment, which is what you are seemingly implying.

CS is correct. The Word is the yardstick we will be measured and judged by.

I didn't say it would EXCUSE our disobedience. We will be judged. I said that God's judgement is mitigated by the mercy we show to others.

A good case of repentance would get a lot of "feet" back to church

Last week I was reflecting on a passage of scripture that always troubled me, but I think I get the main point now.
It's found in I Kings 13, the story of the prophet who delivered a tremendous message from the Lord, there was only one stipulation for this prophet, it couldn't stop and eat anywhere but go straight home.
But he enounters another prophet who intentially lies to him and directs him to eat at his house, the older prophet speaks under the anointing and tells him that God will take his life because of his disobedience.
Now this is what I have come to understand about this passage:
We are always accountable for own walk and life before God, you can't blame your disobedience on a man of God, you are required to hear and obey God for yourself. It won't wash that a man of God convinced you to do something you know to be wrong, decieved you, or abused you (yes God will judge them) but, IF YOU DON"T HEAR AND OBEY GOD FOR YOURSELF YOU WILL BE DESTROYED IN THE END!

The only problem with this analogy is the JESUS is the head of the body. I like what he says just find. It's those big toes and spleens that SAY they are the head that drive me crazy!

Mich, many times He speaks through His ministry, not just and only firectly.
This is indisputable in the Scripture.
You cannot be perfected or equipped without the ministry.
And since there is no such thing as a permanent victory over the flesh, there is never a time when there is no more need for them until you land in the Glory World.

Yes, he does speak through others in the body. We are all the ministry. We all need to be perfected and equipped. I am not arguing against the need for accountability or teaching through others. I am disagree with the clergy/laity seperation that is so prevelant in the Apostolic church.
