I personally believe that the greatest difference between us and the early church is in our attitudes toward suffering.
We think it is horrible, and they rejoiced to be counted worthy to suffer.
In fact, I mentioned that in my lesson last night.
But then, Calvary wasn't 2,000 years old then. It was still very fresh and real to them.

The persecution that followed played a role also.

Ec 7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

I hate the dentist. I'll do most anything not to go. But yesterday at work I had the worst tooth PAIN. Is was sooo bad I called the dentist and went right over. Four Advil took the edge off. I need a root canal and am scheduled for the 25th. Talk about get my attention!!!! I have taken a few Advil since, but I do have a pain killer prescription just in case.
Bad pain makes you want to get to a place where it can be relieved!
