You are a man in "no man's land". You are stranded between the belief system of your youth and the support structures it has and the realization that there is much about it you do not believe is biblilcal.
You struggle to maintain a good attitude and spirit towards your religious heritage while at the same time repulsed by the aspects of it you find offensivie.
Because you have not found a new religious structure to plug into and become part of I fear that the struggle against bitterness becomes harder and harder. One of the results of being a man without a church home.
You need a new positive outlet for praise, worship, discipleship, committment, etc to keep you spiritually fed.
You are not Coop but you are "Coop Lite" at this point!

Well written words!

Silly Carp. Silly question, as you already have determined an answer. Is this just one of those "fishing" threads?
Wholehearted, I view you as much anti-UPC as Carp is.
No. Only because it is human nature for follks to combine birds of a feather in the realm of black and white. I do have a measure of dignity, regardless of the fact that we are somewhat anonymous here, that I do not want to be perceived as someone who would like to see the demise of the UPC or A-church. I never have liked the categories around here, conservative, ultraconservative, moderate and liberal. There are all sorts of folks in the same category who are worlds apart.
Believe it or not, I care about how those I care about think of me, and I need to make sure I keep the bubble between the lines.
Just curious, in your opinion, considering my brand of posting, my comments, my attitudes, etc.
Do you believe that I am guilty of Bashing the UPC or any of its ministers, or other Apostolic organizations?
I would say absolutely not, but then I am sure others would disagree with me.
I would say you have a very cynical view...but I haven't read anything I would call "bashing."
I haven't read all the posts lately...so maybe I missed something.

What you say makes sense and I agree except for the "Coop-light" stuff and the struggle against bitterness. In fact, just the opposite, I am beginning to notice that time has actually healed some things after being in our local UPC this past weekend.
I have never preached that it is a sin for a woman to be in public without hose on.
I do think it look tacky and like a lady in not truly dressed, thus my wife and daughter don't go out in public without hose on. Neither does my wife go to town with tennis shoes and socks on. Not a sin, just tacky.
*gasp*
I HATE pantyhose. I look forward to the THREE seasons of the year when I don't have to wear them, I usually choose tights in winter, AND the new spray-on hose are a nice, much cooler, compromise (for the platform).
Three words:
*Razor
*Lotion
*Pedicure

Very lady-like if you do all three!
