Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I'd say that it better be God that told them to use it.

People don't often "seek Jesus"....because often they don't have a clue that it is Jesus they are seeking for...until you tell them

1) True, but they would never come (in theory) unless they had at least an interest in Christ. The Christ of the Bible teaches us a degree of separation that should make church musicians uncomfortable with playing music in church that does not distinctly glorify God.

2) Say a sinner becomes converted. Wouldn't a sinner be given the false impression they could continue listening to whatever it was they used to listen to, watching whatever it was they used to watch, before they got saved?

What are we saved from if the world can't even plainly realize the difference in atmosphere once they walk into the doors of our church?

True the Church is comprised of fallen humanity-- but there should be some sense of holiness about us and that holiness should be clearly apparent at church.

I don't think sinners expect to come to church to hear the music of the non -Christian advertised as holy.

This is a clear example of Christians becoming worldly.

Re: secular music being used in church services.

Is there any thing related to ministering to the spiritual needs of the Christian or evangelizing the dying soul of the sinner in playing non-Christ centered music in church?

Am I the only one that sees how terrible it is to entertain this idea as acceptable?

Re: secular music being used in church services.

To answer the question broadly, the issue is the content, not the genre.

The church should be the place where folks are encouraged to become as spiritual (Christ-centered) as possible.

Not that the "Piano Man" is sinful as a song, it just does nothing to bring glory to Christ.

So who is it bringing glory to?

Why should our worship be divided in the place dedicated to God's Glory?

Is there anything sacred?
