I disagree. It's not sleazy or gossipy to discuss something that is already in the news.
It's the hush hush attitude that allows for dirt to be covered for the sake of peace and appearance-- all the while real people are getting hurt and the Gospel is being done irreparable harm.
Though it may hurt the eyes, bright light chases away the Gremlins.

You are right there Mike. Silence is not always golden.

How does a church regain its respect in a community with this horrible story attached to the church.
How do the members ever regain their trust?

Re: Deputies arrest ex-pastor
Amazing that someone could report something like this if it were any other than a "minister" and folks would condemn these actions and call them what they were....
But since it is a minister in the UPC now it's called sleazy gossip and folks want to seemingly "protect" the family...who should really be heralded and congratulated for stopping this monster...
Interesting....

Because EVIL men need to be exposed for who they are.
Seems like people like you would rather just bury it and pretend
nothing ever happned.
Sadly, that seems to be typical in Pentecost.

Hold on, Bubba - you are totally misreading what I said!!!!
Under NO circumstances do I condone what this man did! Under NO circumstances do I want to bury it and pretend that it never happened!
I am appalled that a "man of God" did such a thing and continued his life of hyprocrisy
I think he should have his day in court and justice should be done!
Do I make myself perfectly clear as to where I stand??? I tend to agree with a friend who was called for jury duty on a child molestation case - when questioned by the DA, this man calmly stated:
"Sir, I personally think someone who does such a thing to a child should be strung up by their toes and shot at daylight...."
Needless to say - this man was quickly dismissed from the jury pool. Have to say, I think he made a great point.
NOW THAT WE HAVE THAT CLEARED UP......
I still think that to post it on an "apostolic forum" as it was done here is:
1) malicious
2) unnecessary
3) unkind
4) unChristlike
The fact is that it is pure, unadulterated, old-fashioned gossip to be posted in the manner that it was posted. We're not talking just about this man - you are dragging his family through it as well - and heaven knows they don't deserve that!

Randy - much as I like you, I have to disagree with your train of thought here. I think that you are way off base. I don't know if you are referring to me in the above post - but I have a feeling that you know quite a bit about this situation and the family circumstances - stop and think................... if this was YOUR wife and her family under the exact same circumstances, would you want people discussing it on this forum? Did you read all the posts that people made at the end of the article??? TMI given to the world for gossip fodder that ultimately the family will have to deal with - knowing that people are talking about it ........
".... And that's all I have to say about that............"

Whatever happened to grace, and mercy, and restoring a brother to Christ and Christian community? What ever happened to 'it's by your love for one another that the world will know you are my disciples."? A good friend of mine in the UPCI said that one of the things he likes the least about the UPC is that the culture is such that they tend to shoot their wounded. It's spiritual barbarism.
Amen to what Sweet Pea said.
