In this forum, I would say absolutely. Most of the dissention comes from people who, while not Democrat, refuse to drink the Republican Koolaid that has gotten pretty stale and frankly insulting to our personal convictions. I think that either way so much of what I think is important is going down the drain. In one scenario the conservative church will be mad about it...in the other they will be blissfully on board in spite of it.

I'll give you 10, how's that:
1. He's got a real funky name.
2. He represents the "melting pot" of what we are as America
3 His family is cute
4 He was a great community organizer
5 He's a good speaker ( and he pronounces the word nuclear, nuclear)
6 We need more hope
7 We need more change
8 Experience is overrated
9 He'd rather eat a waffle than answer tough questions
10 He's a good dancer (see video below. )

You may recall that earlier I contemplated what was termed a "suicide vote" for the sake of preserving the Republican party. The theory is that Republican legislators will not be conflicted in resisting a President Obama, but will be conflicted about resisting a non-conservative Republican president's efforts to drag the country, and the party, to the left. There is, after all, some embarassing evidence to support this to be found in Republican congressional spending habits from 2000-2006.

I do, however, believe that a McCain presidency will take the Republican party in a direction unpalatable to we fundamental Christians. McCain isn't courting our vote because he knows we will calculate him to be the lesser of two evils come November. Some of us are becoming fed up with being taken for granted by the coalition. Very little action has followed the lip service played for our vote.
In addition, a McCain presidency will place the few remaining congressional conservatives in quite a pickle. They will fracture their own party. If Obama were president, the Rebublican legislators would at least unite to resist him.
I believe we are accountable to God for our votes, so I could not in good conscience make a "suicide vote." But I've thought about it.
Before Sarah Palin, constitution-fundamentalist limited-government conservatives had very little compelling reasons to vote FOR McCain. McCain has been a thorn in the side of the Reagan Republican coalition for a very long time.
So only in a very tortured, strategic sense can I come up with a compelling reason to vote for Obama. It would be a very risky move. Rather than expose and correct a presumed rift in the Republican party, which would lead to a resurgence of conservatism, it might just offer license for a majority of Republican legislators to finally make that left turn they've been wanting to make for so long.

OP, I missed your previous post that you quoted here, but I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. I would not go as far as to vote for Obama to prevent it, but I do feel like the religious right is being taken for a ride.

Actually, the video was kind of cool...but I couldn't get past his dance partner, Ellen Degenerate.
Nothing wrong with a President who knows how to move around a dance floor.
Knowing he can dance wouldn't cause me to vote against him. It's who he dances with--and who he's in bed with--that gives me pause.
