Re: Fall Foilage Contest

well for those who are saying that fall comes later for them... I could protest if I wanted too... because see here in TX we have a week of fall a week of summer and week of winter and then start all over again... and this happens year round... my trees drop leaves in August and it snows in November! So who knows what season it is here anymore LOL

Re: Fall Foilage Contest

Beautiful pics! To me, the most beautiful colours are where there are lots of Maples (like here in N.B.) Then you have that brilliant red!!! So absolutely amazingly beautiful!

I'm so thankful I live in a place where we have 4 distinct seasons with all the accompanying wonderfulness that goes with each!

Where's Maple Leaf?!! He usually has some absolutely stunning pictures to post from one of the most beautiful areas of God's awesome, brilliant, magnificent, gorgeous creation.

And my home!

October Maples, Portland

The leaves, though little time they have to live,
Were never so unfallen as today,
And seem to yield us through a rustled sieve
The very light from which time fell away.

A showered fire we thought forever lost
Redeems the air. Where friends in passing meet,
They parley in the tongues of Pentecost.
Gold ranks of temples flank the dazzled street.

It is a light of maples, and will go;
But not before it washes eye and brain
With such a tincture, such a sanguine glow
As cannot fail to leave a lasting stain.

So Mary's laundered mantle (in a tale
Which, like all pretty tales, may be true),
Spread on the rosemary-bush, so drenched the pale
Slight blooms in its irradiated hue,

They could not choose but to return in blue.

Richard Wilbur
Lovely, Ferd!

I love Fall until about November. Then it often turns kind of dreary. Temps drop, trees are stripped bare, and the world turns kind of grey.

Until ....... until the first snowfall!
