Re: You've Got To Read This!!!

Catholic church baptizes or "christens" babies. They believe that all humans are born into this world in sin. The purpose for the christening is to "wash away the original sin" of Adam and Eve. Around the age of 8-10, children make what they call their first "holy communion". They are (symbolized) being married to Christ. The boys wear groom clothes and the little girls wear white dresses and veils similar to wedding dresses. Around the ages of 12-15, the children are then "confirmed" into the church. Once confirmed into the CC, you will always be claimed by them.

I've been through all of these ceremonies complete with screaming nuns and grumpy priests presiding over us.

By the way, "works" as you put it, are a very necessary step in the plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. In case you do not realize it, faith itself can be considered a work. The New Testament plan requires obedience and action. You Protestants should know this...
Okaaaaay, then salvation is works based. So, then what's stupid about the comment?

a couple of things that caught my eye:
-"There is pretty much no theology with this group."
-"They tend to be hostile to philosophy and to claim that they are simply following the Bible (big surprise!). They see the Trinity as a philosophical corruption of Christianity."
-"Jesus praying to Himself? Thats so absurd I cant wait to see how they defend that one."
-"My mom and uncle have both been to their services and both said they had to politely get up and leave before they rudely started laughing. Their service is the complete opposite of the Catholic Mass."

wow, i am enlightened. somebody find me a statue!
Someone should post a link to AFF, so they can come here and have their misconceptions cleared up.
